Car
The
car. Another everyday situation. You might not at first understand why I chose
this picture, because you think that normally in the car you don’t use your phone,
because you have to drive and as soon as you stop driving you just get out of
the car. Speaking from personal experience, I can say that I’ve had some of the
most intimate conversations with my friends in the car in a parking lot. Why?
Because although the car is not a totally private space, as the house or a room
is, there nevertheless is a very intimate atmosphere in a car between
individuals, maybe even more private than in a house, because it is so much
smaller. That’s what you can also see on the picture. The fact that everything,
except the window, is pretty dark, makes the space seem even smaller and more
intimate, nevertheless from the angle of which the photograph is taken, you can
clearly see that there is a certain distance between these two individuals and
the fact that the phone screens are highlighted, due to the black and white
contrast, shows that this distance doesn’t only exist physically between them,
but also mentally, because each of them is in their own world.
